When I learned that Mari and her family would be coming to California for a year, I was in Festa planning mode.
There are a ton of Festas in the area in which they would be living.
The challenge was to find one betweem the time they arrived in July and the time SPF relinquished her crown in Augusr.
Newark seemed to fit the bill...so we planned.
Having one more Festa built around family was the cat's meow.
It would also be an excuse to see them soon as well as share with them this tradition that is such a part of our lives.
When Mari lived with my parents as an exchange student, she immediately became part of the family.
In turn, we were accepted into hers.
Mari is truly my second sister.
E-Mails are wonderful, but hugging in person is even better.
Last Saturday was the day.
After our jaunt to Stanford and the Mystery house, we arrived on their doorstep.
The doorstep on which they signed the lease for the prior day.
It mattered not that there was no furniture (other than beds that had been delivered the night before). Their new home was filled with laughter, hugs, and family.
Nothing more needed....although I think they might like a couch eventually.
Dinner reservations had been made and we continued our visit that evening.
The cousins were together for the first time.
I must say that I knew E and G were tall, but it has now been confirmed.
Chris is 6'2" tall.
And a little taken aback.
THIS was pretty close to perfection!
