Moments of Hope

As you know, we are in the midst of one of the worst droughts on record in California and much of the West.
More than a foot of rain in one month is what we need to end the drought
There are people who called this a man made drought...in a nutshell, there could have been policies and plans put into effect years ago to increase our storage capacity that would help in years like this.  That wasn't done.
There is a lot of name calling and pointing fingers.
Bottom line...we need rain and snow.
Lots.
The thing that I find so interesting is that farmers or people with some agriculture background or knowledge...
the people that grow food to feed everyone else...
the growers who provide food for our food banks...
these people who are letting their ground go fallow because there is no water to sustain life are the very same people who have great Faith and Hope.
A few drops of rain is all it takes to lift spirits for a moment.
"Terra Bella" is a new, up and coming country music duo who first caught my eye because their name is that of a very small town next to mine.
It means "beautiful land".
As I delved  further into the singers, I discovered that they are in fact a married couple from two neighboring towns in our valley.
 Local and homegrown.
I like that.
Anyway, they just released this new song.

Last week, we received a bit of water from the sky.
As I  ran outside to take the clothes off the line, I felt joy.
As I was getting wet and listening to the glorious drops hit the dusty ground, I was thanking God.  While there ended up being no more than enough to keep the dust on the road down, it was something.
"The only rain we get don't even get our clothes wet. It's enough to get our hopes up."
Sometimes a moment of hope is enough to carry on.

Those small moments really propel us through the hard times and keep us going. I do hope you will get some more rain.

I know that pain! I wish I could have sent you some of our abundance this summer!
