A November Luau

Sugar Plum Fairy turned nine last week
and in addition to making the actual birthday special with morning balloons,

...making treats for her class...
and executing a secretive plot to have her brother surprise her, we also planned a party on Saturday for her friends.
She asked for a Luau.
The weather could not have been more perfect and I must say that the group of friend she has are fantastic!
Most of them have been friends since kindergarten and in the world of a 9 year old, that is a long time!

As the kidnicks arrived, they were presented with a new name...their name translated into Hawaiian as well as a flower lei.
We also printed their Hawaiian name on clay flower pots which they then decorated.
Some potting soil and a pretty pansy completed the party favors.

We wanted to have a Limbo Contest as well as Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
The only problem was Pin the Tail on the DONKEY didn't mesh with the theme, so Pin the Tail on the DOLPHIN was born.
It then evolved into Pin the Tail on Winter the Dolphin!
My nephew is an extremely talented artist so I asked if he would draw a basic dolphin for me on poster board.
We were treated to an amazing piece of art that is now proudly hanging in Sugar Plum Fairy's bedroom.

I made copies of the tail portion with each Hawaiian name, spun each kidnick around three times and sent them on their merry tail pinning way.

The two boys tied as the best and lowest Limbo-er.
Who would have imagined?

The requested Chocolate Cake was served and inhaled.
And a  very happy young lady had a ball.
Doesn't get much better than that!
