Times have changed since I was in high school and was asked to a formal dance...
at least I think they have.
I don't remember any of the invitations.
Hmmmm.....that might just be because it was back in the dark ages.
Well, apparantly, the new trend is for the boy to make a sign on poster board and present it to the girl in a public spot accompanied by flowers.
A lot of pressure to ask and a lot of pressure to say yes.
Lollipop Pop was asked in this manner a couple weeks ago during lunch at school.
Thanksgiving weekend, Lollipop Pop's marching band was to perform in Disneyland and the rest of us decided to go as well.
I am so glad.
With the help, guidance and tips from friends, Shaggy was planning on asking another friend to the Christmas Ball...in Disneyland.
After a stop in the hotel gift shop for a pink Minnie Mouse, a stop at Wal-Mart to find the girl's favorite color poster board and markers, another stop at a farmer's market where Shaggy bought a dozen pink roses , away we went to the Happiest Place on Earth..
After much texting between Shaggy and the group of friends to coordinate the meeting, we hung out in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
Soon, two of the girls came running up, each grabbing a sign and sat down on either side of the entrance. Shaggy went into the entrance and waited.
Soon, more friends appeared and sat to watch.
Pretty soon, the girl arrived....walked toward the entrance where the sign girls appeared just as Shaggy walked from the entrance.
It was so much fun!
She accepted, by the way.
