What do you do when at the beginning of the summer you PROMISE your youngest that camping is on the most definite list of activities you will do in the next 2 months...but the summer gets away from you and you realize there is one week of summer vacation left and camping didn't happen?
If you are like me, you plan to camp in the back yard...she is thrilled.
Then the weather man promises the temps will stay well over 100* and won't cool off at night much and sleeping in a tent will be stifling.
We decided sleeping on the trampoline might be okay.
Then decide there is not a breath of air movement and did I mention it is still hot at night?
I convinced her that making a tent from sheets in our air conditioned family room might be a ton of fun!  She went for it!

Her Dad even got the air mattress out for her
We even made S'Mores over the gas stove...because the thought of building a campfire in this heat made me nauseous.

I also set my alarm for 3:30AM in order to go out with her and watch the meteor shower that was to occur...
She and I took our blankets outside (yes it was still hot and humid), got settled on the ground to watch the was cloudy and we couldn't see a thing.
Regardless of what I intended last May when we planned a camping trip, this one will be remembered and that is what it is all about.

Memories are what's important.
Too cloud over here to see the meteor shower, too. Darn-it.....
