Fun in the Snow!

We have friends who own a cabin in the nearby mountains and offered the use of it to us earlier this week. We jumped at the chance so along with Hubby's sister and her family we headed up the mountain on Sunday morning. There were 10 of us in all and everyone was excited to hit the slopes and enjoy the snow. We (I use that word loosely) put chains on the vehicles and continued on our way.
It was beginning to snow lightly and everyone was in a good mood...even when we responsible and chained vehicles had to wait in line to go around the knuckleheads who thought the "Chains Required" signs were NOT MEANT FOR THEM!!! Sheesh.
It was not long after we arrived at the cabin before all 6 kids were changed and heading outside for some fun in the snow.
Sugar Plum Fairy also lost her second tooth...and discovered the Snow Tooth Fairy is more generous than the first one who came to her home....hmmm.....
There was quite a bit of snow on the ground (the area received 24" the night prior to our arrival) and Lollipop Pop experienced the depth first hand when she dropped a glove from the balcony and went to retrieve it.
We played board games and watched a movie before waking up to a frustrating morning. Seems the power had gone out overnight...no water...no toilet flushing...10 people...you get the picture? Well, we were melting snow on the BBQ and wood stove while telling the kidnicks to find a tree outside if they needed to. I warmed Cinnamon Rolls up on the BBQ and we all survived. Headed up to the ski resort and had a FANTASTIC day. The weather was spectacular and there were no broken bones...that has not always been the case.
We ended up coming home late that night since the power had not been restored but the memories will remain for a long time. A perfect ending to a perfect Christmas Vacation.

Sounds like a wonderful time!! The snow was so pretty. It is so hard to do without power, but you do find a way to get creative, and that seems to bring about lasting memories...

Happy weekend, Jen!
